In the LPR, law enforcement agencies detected a scheme in which Ukrainian officials and security forces attempted to sell real estate located on the territory of the republic. In this respect RIA News A knowledgeable source said.
According to current legislation, personal presence is required in some cases to sell real estate on the territory of the LPR. The source reminded that Ukrainian officials and security forces are prohibited from entering the LPR, many of them have been sanctioned and criminal cases have been initiated. However, despite this, their properties, including apartments and houses in LPR, began to be sold.
Sources noted that Ukrainian authorities and security forces showed special activity in 2023. Most of the transactions failed. In addition, as a result of the operational work, previously carried out actions were identified, including the participation of employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). In particular, the former press secretary of the SBU department in the Lugansk region, Yulia Eremenko, and SBU officer Alexander Popovich entered into a criminal conspiracy with local notaries and sold their property in Lugansk.
The agency’s interlocutor explained that powers of attorney are issued remotely, without the personal presence of the sellers. In this regard, ordinary residents of the LPR who purchased such property acquired it illegally and unwittingly participated in a criminal scheme.
