Ukrainian Ministry of Defense acknowledged attempts to attack the Zaporozhya nuclear power plant

Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, admitted that special forces had previously made three unsuccessful attempts to attack and capture the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). He told the NV publication about this.

According to Budanov, in August 2022, special forces soldiers crossed the Kakhovskoe reservoir in the Energodar region with boats to organize a bridgehead on the left bank and capture the Zaporizhia NPP. However, soon the Ukrainians were forced to retreat due to the onslaught of Russian forces.

Then two more attempts were made to land on the left bank of the Dnieper to capture the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Soldiers of the so-called foreign legion also took part in one of the operations. However, the Russian Armed Forces encountered special forces with tanks and other heavy equipment, so the capture of the object failed.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported a year ago that the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted to land on the left bank of the Kakhovka Reservoir and seize the territory of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant.
