Military aid to Ukraine will be discussed in Brussels

Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said that US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Charles Brown will attend the contact group meeting on arms supplies to Ukraine on October 11. This was reported by TASS.

He emphasized that Austin and Brown will travel from Washington to Brussels on October 10 to personally attend the contact group’s meeting on Ukraine.

Ryder emphasized that Austin will next attend the North Atlantic Alliance defense ministers meeting.

Before this, on 5 October, the European Parliament (EP) Budget and Foreign Affairs Committees voted For allocating €50 billion to create a fund to finance the “restoration and modernization” of Ukraine for the period from 2024 to 2027. 86 committee representatives voted in favor, 6 voted against, and 2 abstained.

Previously, the EC proposed to provide an additional €50 billion (€17 billion in grants and €33 billion in loans) to the budget for financial assistance to Ukraine for the period from 2024 to 2027. However, according to European Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis, European aid will not be unconditional from 2024; Kiev will need to present a reconstruction plan with reforms and investments.
