Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that more than a thousand young teachers started working in the Moscow education system this school year. In total there are about 15 thousand such teachers in the capital.

He noted that the capital supports young teachers. According to him, they can improve their skills in special programs and courses, attend lectures and excursions, take part in walks around Russia, and also benefit from the help of experienced mentors.

“Nearly 500 programs and advanced training courses, as well as support from experienced mentors, are available for young teachers to immerse themselves in a professional environment. Useful leisure is organized for teachers: lectures and excursions in museums, meetings with interesting people, walks and trips around the country,” Sobyanin wrote.

He also said that all teachers can participate in professional skills competitions. The mayor also noted that the main competition of the city is “Teachers of the Year in Moscow”. This year, the award was won by Sergei Valyugin, a teacher of Russian language and literature at the school named after FM. Dostoevsky.

“Sergey also showed his worth at the all-Russian level and was among the laureates of the final competition “Teacher of the Year in Russia – 2023”. “We congratulate all our teachers and wish them a successful year,” he said.

Let us recall that UNESCO established World Teachers’ Day in 1994, which is celebrated every year on October 5. Starting from the same year, Russia was also included in the list of countries celebrating Teachers’ Day on the same day. Additionally, 2023 was declared the Year of Teachers and Mentors in Russia.
