California residents in San Francisco Bay are forced to fend off “pirates” robbing yachts and houseboats. This was reported by Fox News.
Residents and the local council say the pirates are part of a growing homeless crisis affecting Oakland’s waterways, the television station reported.
According to Fox News, during the summer months, homeless people began to organize “raids” using abandoned or stolen boats at the mouth of the Oakland-Alameda River, where there are more than three thousand piers.
Former local port captain Broca de Lappe said people living on houseboats and yachts in the bay were having to physically resist “sea robbers” robbing their ships, and crime had risen to “truly unbearable levels”.
Democrat Gavin Newsom in June perceived to the critical homeless situation in California. According to the politician, state officials cannot solve the problem alone. He later said that the increase in the number of vagrants on the streets of San Francisco and other major cities was an epidemic. He also noted that after four years of work, he did not have enough resources to tackle the problem.
Previous scientists dispelled the myth that giving money to the homeless is pointless and harmful.
