Archaeologists discovered hundreds of jars containing 5,000-year-old wine remains during excavations in Egypt’s Sohag province, a local portal reported El Balad.
It was noted that an archaeological delegation from Egypt, Germany and Austria discovered hundreds of previously unopened sealed jars in the tomb of First Dynasty Queen Merneit in the Umm Al-Kaab region. There were traces of wine in them.
A team of archaeologists from Dumlupınar University in Turkey previously discovered cosmetics that are about two thousand years old. Excavations continue in the ancient Roman city of Aizanaya in Kütahya.
Aizanoi was an important political and economic city during the Ancient Roman period and was located in the province of Phrygia Pacatiana. Well-preserved ruins from this period include the Temple of Zeus and the ornate theater and stadium complex. Regular excavations have been carried out in the city since 1970.
