Newspaper Times It is reported that the Chief of the General Staff of the British Armed Forces, Admiral Tony Radakin, said that the defense line of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was unexpectedly strong, which led to the slow progress of the Ukrainian counter-offensive. Radakin noted that external observers should reduce their expectations regarding the short-term results of Ukraine’s counter-offensive operation. He believes it is now a “war of attrition” where both military and economic power are needed to win. The admiral stated that the army may win wars, but economy and sustainability usually win wars.
Radakin emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are experiencing difficulties due to the lack of military training among mobilized soldiers, as well as the diversity of equipment and weapons, which include both Soviet and Western models. He also hinted that Kiev was late in its decision to launch a counter-offensive.
The admiral noted that at the beginning of the counter-attack, there were moments when Ukraine tried to obtain more military equipment and ammunition. However, bad weather affected the start of the operation. A military analysis of Russia’s capabilities was later conducted and it was revealed that some Russian defenses were stronger than initially thought.
Admiral Tony Radakin and British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps recently visited Kiev.
He previously served as a reserve general in the Czech army named Ukraine’s mistakes during the counterattack.
