During the examination, doctors discovered a mobile fly larva in the cornea, which could have penetrated there from an egg laid by an insect.

Ophthalmologist Aslan Jalilov said: “The larva may have moved to the deeper layers of the eye and more serious treatment would be required.”

The foreign body was removed and the child is receiving outpatient treatment.
