A bill to abolish penalties for likes on social networks was redeveloped in the State Duma by deputies of the New People group and sent back to the Russian government for review. The newspaper reports this “Vedomosti”.
Deputies proposed to supplement the article of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation on inciting hatred or hostility, as well as insulting human dignity, with a note aimed at inciting actions, where the penalty varies from 10,000 to 500,000 rubles. It cannot be understood as an expression of feelings of hatred or hostility in the form of marking posts on the internet. It is suggested that the same note be given to the article regarding public actions aimed at discrediting the Armed Forces or volunteer formations.
The “New People” group has developed a new bill to humanize justice and clarify judicial practices in such cases. Deputies noted that there has been an increase in investigations against citizens within the scope of these two articles recently.
The bill was first sent to the government for review in March this year. However, the government did not support the bill.
The newspaper states that one of the authors of the new bill is the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, Vladislav Davankov from the New People faction.
