According to the publication, in December 2022, her mother met a businessman scammer who was planning to apply for documents to travel to Israel. A new acquaintance told the businessman that he had connections with the financial director of the tolerance center at the embassy and that this person could allegedly expedite the process of obtaining the necessary documents. The victim gave the fraudster more than $24,000 and then cut off communication with the “client.”
Investigators found that the same man told another friend in October last year that his mother worked at the Jewish Museum and did a currency exchange business there. The scammer’s friend took this opportunity and gave him 17 thousand dollars, and as a result, the man who promised to help him disappeared.
In addition, the fraudster stated that the Moscow woman was ready to make renovations in her house, but disappeared after receiving an advance in rubles. The victim suffered 403 thousand losses. Currently, law enforcement is looking for the fraudster.
