Vilnius has increased its defense spending 20-fold since the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict. Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas spoke about this, according to reports TASS.

At the same time, according to the head of the department, the cost of purchasing weapons has tripled. He explained that a similar situation was observed when purchasing various ammunition.

“In two years, we have increased spending on military infrastructure development projects by 20 times, thanks to the increase in allocations,” Anusauskas added.

According to available information, the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense is currently implementing approximately 200 infrastructure projects. In 2023, the government of the republic allocated 130 million euros for relevant purposes.

In addition, the authorities demanded that commercial banks provide 128 million euros of their excess profits as a solidarity contribution. These funds are also planned to be spent on the development of military infrastructure.
