Australian man staged his own kidnapping to hide his betrayal from girlfriend, writes LADBible.

Paul Iera, 36, made up a story about his kidnapping in the hope that this way he could hide his betrayal from his girlfriend. The man wrote to his girlfriend that he was captured and held hostage by “Middle Eastern men” and demanded $7,000 as ransom. Apparently the Australian didn’t expect his partner to immediately contact the police.

Officers found Paul hiding in his van the next day. A few days later, police obtained surveillance video showing Paul with a woman engaged in prostitution. Investigators spent nearly 200 hours eventually uncovering the man’s deception.

Iyer had to pay a $10,000 fine, plus the court sentenced him to 350 hours of community service.

Her daughter had previously staged her own kidnapping. He demanded 50 thousand dollars from his mother.
