More and more Russians are seeking psychological help, this is due to the increasing level of anxiety in society. Therefore, the psychological assistance program needs to be expanded to the population. This was demonstrated by a survey of the Vrachu.ru service, the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.

The study included 2,068 participants (doctors and medical personnel) from all regions of the country.

The overwhelming majority of doctors (88.5%) were in favor of providing psychological assistance free of charge in clinics. They believe that the level of anxiety is increasing and such services need to be provided. Only 6.7% of participants reported that they were unsure whether this type of help was needed. 4.7% believe that the funds allocated to this project can be spent on other purposes.

At the same time, the majority of doctors and nurses (65.9%) have not heard of the opening of medical and psychological counseling rooms. Since July 1, new rules for providing medical care for mental disorders have come into force in Russia, which provides that everyone can see a psychologist free of charge under compulsory health insurance.

17.2% of the respondents said that there was no psychologist in their clinic, but they knew that an office had been opened in another health institution in their region. And 16.9% claim that their healthcare institution has recently started providing such a service.

When asked whether it was necessary to expand the community psychological assistance program, the majority of respondents (83%) said “definitely yes.” According to them, this is determined by current conditions. 10% of those surveyed said that other problems of the healthcare system should be solved first, and then psychological help should be provided. The other 7% do not have a clear opinion on this issue.
