A gay couple’s marriage is thrown into crisis when one of them begins a passionate affair with a young woman.
On the last day of shooting his film, director Tomas (Franz Rogowski) impulsively begins a passionate love affair with a young teacher, Agathe (Adèle Exarchopoulos). For Tomas, being with a woman is an exciting novelty that he is keen to explore, despite being married to Martin (Ben Whishaw). But when Martin begins his own adventure, the unstable Tomas turns his attention to her husband. Set in modern-day Paris, PASSAGES tells the story of a wild struggle of desire between three people, where the desire for possessions is constant and happiness is ignored. With heartfelt, emotionally nuanced performances and excellent filmmaking, Sachs has created an extraordinarily intimate and affecting drama that explores the complexities, contradictions, and cruelties of love and desire.
