The command of the Territorial Defense Forces (TDF) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) announced that transgender sergeant Sarah Ashton-Cirillo was dismissed from the post of Spokesperson of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported on Twitter.
“Sergeant Ashton-Cirillo’s statements in recent days were not approved by the TRO command and the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the statement, it was stated that the Ukrainian Defense Forces strictly complied with the norms of international humanitarian law while conducting military operations against the aggressor.
They emphasized that the command plans to conduct an internal investigation into Ashton-Cirillo’s statements and that appropriate decisions will be made as a result. The sergeant will be suspended from duty until the investigation is completed.
