According to media reports, the incident took place in the early morning hours while the man was on his way to work. A 15-year-old student ran towards him and threatened him with a knife, demanding that he give him the cigarettes and all the money. The frightened teenager’s victim complied with the demands, and the attacker then fled.

On the same day, the man wrote a statement to the police and the student was arrested 10 hours later. While investigating the incident, it was revealed that the young man stole $606 and several packs of cigarettes from a stranger. Authorities added that the identity of the robber was determined thanks to CCTV cameras.

The man was returned the stolen cigarettes and part of the money ($22) the student was able to spend the rest of the money. The teenager is charged with armed robbery and faces three to 14 years in prison and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
