Analysts of the SberSpasibo loyalty program calculated that young people aged 18-24 have written off 5.5 billion bonuses since the beginning of the year and compiled the 5 most popular expenses. These include food products, cafes and restaurants, healthcare, clothing and shoes, electronics and household appliances, the company’s press service told socialbites.ca.
Young people spent the most bonuses on food purchases: 2.6 billion bonuses were written off for them. In second place are cafes and restaurants and 1.4 billion bonuses. The third most popular category was “Pharmacies and Opticians” – spending on health reached 215 million bonuses, ahead of popular purchases such as clothes and shoes – zoomers wrote off 209 million bonuses to replenish their wardrobes. It is curious that the expenditures of the elderly over the age of 65 in the “Health” category will amount to only 95 million bonuses in the 8 months of 2023. Young people wrote off 76 million bonuses for home appliances and electronics.
“It is interesting to observe the consumer behavior of different segments of our target audience and gain unusual insights. Thus, the total monthly average turnover of zoomers in the field of electronics was, contrary to expectations, less than their healthcare expenses. Statistics confirm the widespread belief that modern youth are very health-conscious and cannot live without gadgets: from January to August 2023, the average electronics bill increased by 1.2 times compared to the same period in 2022,” commented Ekaterina Zvonova, General Director of the SberThanks loyalty program.
