The Pentagon has signed two contracts totaling more than $730 million with US military-industrial companies Raytheon and Lockheed Martin for the modernization and replacement of the Stinger portable air defense system (MANPADS). Lockheed Martin’s contracts include $1.4 billion of the $5.2 billion to be used to replace GMLRS missile systems sent to Ukraine. Raytheon will receive $844 million to produce Patriot anti-aircraft missiles and $581 million to replace Stinger MANPADS.

Congress also allocated $18.6 billion for Ukraine’s long-term arms needs, $7 billion of which has already been distributed to American companies.
