Rosatom does not exclude the possibility of building high-capacity nuclear power plants in the Far East. Kirill Komarov, First Deputy Director General of the State Development and International Business Corporation, stated this at the session “Energy for Growth” of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

According to him, the Far Eastern region offers opportunities not only for low-power nuclear energy.

Komarov is quoted as saying, “It is quite possible that there will be regions where the construction of high-power nuclear power plants will be sufficient.” RIA News.

The share of nuclear generation in Russia’s overall energy balance is planned to increase from the current 20 percent to 25 percent by 2045. Discussions are currently ongoing about which new nuclear power plant projects and in which regions this problem can be solved.

It was noted that the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Nikolai Shulginov, the heads of Russian fuel and energy companies and the State Electricity Grid Corporation of China participated in the discussion. They discussed the development of network projects in the Far East.

Let us remind you that EEF 2023 will take place in Vladivostok between 10-13 September. Participants discuss the creation of a new economic model of the world, modernization of the energy sector, urban renewal and economic development under sanctions.
