A citizen of the Russian Federation sought to extract cultural value from Russia in the form of a rare icon. It has been reported press office Kaliningrad regional customs.
At the border with Poland with the Kaliningrad region, customs officers stopped a 70-year-old passenger on the Kaliningrad-Warsaw bus. After scanning the luggage at the Bagrationovsk checkpoint, a metal rectangular object was found on the pensioner, and experts said it was the copper casting icon “Saved the Good Silence with the Chosen Saints”. The man said that the icon belonged to his grandmother, that he would hand over his inheritance to Germany, where he currently resides. But the owner did not have permits for the export of valuables, which had to be signed at the Ministry of Culture.
As a result, the icon was confiscated from the citizen and an administrative offense case was filed against him. The man was accused of failing to declare goods and not complying with established prohibitions and restrictions.
