Experts from the University of Sydney (Australia) found that a lack of protein in food causes the body to absorb more calories to meet the natural need for amino acids. As a result, this can lead to the development of obesity. The results of the research were published at: magazine Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences.
The scientists conducted a meta-analysis of scientific articles aimed at investigating the effect of protein on the development of obesity. The authors found that people are most dependent on protein intake. Thus, if the protein contained in the food is diluted with fats and carbohydrates, there is a compensatory increase in digestible food energy.
The authors also found that high protein intake during childhood also increases the risk of obesity. The fact is that in adulthood it increases the body’s need for protein. As a result, the person is faced with a lack of food, which triggers the mechanism described above.
scientists clarified An unusual factor that increases the risk of developing obesity.
