The new heroes of Figital are athletes who show excellent results both in computer games and in real competitions. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko during an open lecture on “Technologies of progress: digitalization and fidzhital sports”. The event took place at Innopolis High School in Tatarstan as part of the “Share Your Knowledge” training marathon. Marathon launched the education campaign named after the Information Society.
Chernyshenko discussed with the guys the development of information technologies in Russia and opportunities for youth in IT, eSports and gaming, and also talked about the Future Games project.
“Today, at the open lecture organized by the Russian Knowledge Society, I would like to introduce you to a new term we developed ourselves: phygital. Until recently, no one used it. But now it enters our lives. More recently, even the Fidzhital sports society of the same name was registered, it was led by the Olympic champion in gymnastics Nikita Nagorny, ”said the artist.
Emphasizing that sports can be different, Deputy Prime Minister listed his hobbies as follows: martial arts, hockey, skiing. He asked what sports the young people did. The answers were varied: swimming, volleyball, basketball.
“There is also e-sports and it is extremely popular. It is probably impossible to find a schoolboy today who has never played computer games, and statistics show that most of them spend several hours a day playing games. So the idea of phygital is not to discourage children from playing computer games, but to create the understanding: real life is great too, we mustn’t forget that. The Phygital world also has its own stars and self-proclaimed heroes.”
The Deputy Prime Minister also gave examples of how Russian athletes are being oppressed internationally today, emphasizing that the country should establish sovereignty, including technological dominance.
In addition, Chernyshenko invited schoolchildren to the largest figurative competitions, which will open in Kazan on February 23, 2024. This will be the first such competition in history to combine cyber and technological disciplines with familiar sports.
