Multiple prison guards held hostage in Ecuador

Ecuador’s National Prison Service said inmates in six prisons in the country have once again taken guards and police officers hostage. This has been reported DEA News.

The service stressed that as of 6pm on Thursday (02.00 on Friday, Moscow time), seven policemen and 50 guards were held in six prisons.

These actions are said to be likely a response by criminal groups to searches for banned items from inmates in prisons across the country.

A similar situation occurred in an Ecuadorian prison at the end of July, when inmates went on a hunger strike and detained guards.

Before that, the Moscow City Court right Two Lithuanian nationals and two Russians in case of cocaine deliveries of more than 472 kg from Ecuador to Russia.

The acquittal was granted on the basis of the jury’s decision. The court acquitted Georgy Radomirov, Ivan Radomirov, Ernestas Kazlauskas and Mindaugas Koretsas.

The fifth defendant, Igoris Grigas, was found guilty by the court of minor incidents. The lawyer explained that the time he spent in the pre-trial detention center counted as a completed sentence in the form of 5.5 years in prison.
