Now 63 percent of surveyed Russians own a cottage, and another 14 percent periodically rent cottages. This was demonstrated by the joint survey of the Citydrive ridesharing service and the analytical agency A2:Research, the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.
At the same time, a third (30%) of respondents are sure that there is no point in buying a summer house if at least one person in the family does not have a driver’s license. As 25% of surveyed users stated, one of the main factors that kept respondents from buying a cottage was the difficulty of reaching it. Respondents cited a reluctance to deal with problems such as buying land and building houses (16%) and financial difficulties (15%), among other “stopping points”. One out of every ten people stated that they did not have time to look after their hut.
Most respondents choose nearby summer houses; 43% of respondents have their summer houses 50 km from the city, and 28% are 50 to 100 km from the city. 17% have a cottage in their city. The most convenient way to get to their cottage, according to respondents, is by car – this was reported by 30% of respondents. 41% usually reach their cabins by private car and 13% by car sharing.
38% of respondents spend less than an hour on the road, and the same amount ranges from one to two hours. In addition, 34% are sometimes stuck in traffic on trips to the country, and 15% are stuck in traffic on every trip. Another 16% need to be paved for up to three hours on the way to the cottage, and 5% more than three hours.
Almost a third of those surveyed believe any day is good for getting out of town. However, Friday and Saturday continue to be the most preferred days with an increase of 20% and 19%, respectively. But those trying to avoid traffic jams consider Tuesdays and Thursdays the most successful days for trips to the country (13%). Sunday turned out to be the least popular day for summer cottages – only 10% move to rural properties on this day.
More than a quarter of those surveyed believe it is now important for an adult and successful person to own a cabin. And almost one in ten people are sure that a cottage is not only fashionable, but also status. Another 26% consider the dacha a pastime that is not suitable for everyone, and 23% believe that any family with children needs a cottage.
