From September 2014 to June 2019, scammers convinced traffic accident victims that experts allegedly underestimated the amount of damage from the crashes, according to investigators.
The lawyers’ clients then came to an agreement with the people under the control of the attackers on the transfer of rights. These, in turn, initiated “statements of claims to the courts, with the attachment of false documents justifying the making of claims against insurance companies and the recovery of funds for insured events.” As a result, scammers forged signatures and stole money from insurance companies.
The court found the fraudsters guilty. They were sentenced from five to 12 years in prison. In addition, the fraudsters were ordered to pay a fine of between 250,000 and 800,000 rubles each.
