Elderly cell of Jehovah’s Witnesses* Detained in Crimea

Law enforcement detained the elder of the Sivash cell of Jehovah’s Witnesses (an extremist organization banned in the Russian Federation) in Canköy, Crimea. It has been reported Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol of the Russian Federation.

According to the investigation, the man was a member of the district cell’s top management. He held online meetings with his fans, where he promoted extremist ideas and showed materials banned in the Russian Federation. The prisoner also collected donations and added new supporters to the organization.

Police found extremist publications in a search of the detainee’s residence. A criminal case was opened against the man on the grounds that he organized the activities of a banned religious organization.

Formerly resident in Tyumen complained to a neighbor preaching the faith of Jehovah’s Witnesses in an elevator.
