Scientists of the Samara State Medical University of the Russian Ministry of Health in cooperation with engineers of the Samara National Research University named after Academician SP. Korolev proved that pressure fluctuations in the arteries in the presence of arrhythmias in the vessels serve as an additional risk factor for atherosclerosis. This was reported to socialbites.ca in the press service of the program “Priority 2030” of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.
This was done using two patented devices to simulate intra-arterial circulation and blood flow at the bifurcation region of the main artery (where the artery bifurcates). These devices helped doctors study the hemodynamics of arterial vessels with the correct heart rhythm and arrhythmias.
Experiments with the use of the developed devices have shown that cardiac arrhythmia is an additional risk factor for the development and progression of atherosclerosis of the main arteries.
“Previously, we conducted the clinical part of the study and obtained specific models – predictive scales and optimal algorithms for managing patients with arrhythmias. But we needed to prove this data, so we created devices. factor, ”says the author of the project, Olga Germanova, director of the International Center for Cardiovascular Pathology and Cardioimaging Science and Education, Samara State Medical University, told socialbites.ca.
Former cardiac surgeon Vinokurov said about the most advanced approach to the treatment of diseases of the arteries of the lower extremities.
