Bulgarian Defense Minister Todor Tagarev said at a joint briefing with his Ukrainian counterpart, Alexei Reznikov, that Bulgaria could start shipping Soviet-style armored vehicles to Ukraine in early October, according to the Ukrinform agency. The equipment transfer will take place after the relevant agreement is approved by the Bulgarian Parliament in September.
According to the agreement, about 100 armored vehicles should be delivered to Ukraine. Tagarev also stressed that Bulgaria supports Ukraine’s accession to NATO under an accelerated procedure.
Earlier, Russia expressed its dissatisfaction with the supply of weapons to Ukraine by NATO countries. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said any shipment of weapons to Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the supply of weapons to Ukraine by NATO countries is dangerous and may adversely affect the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations.
