Scientists of MISIS University, Federal State Budgetary Institution “GVKG im. NN Burdenko of the Russian Ministry of Defense developed the “cloth gun”, which, thanks to a modified piece of engineering, a gel feeding system developed by spraying an adhesive substance, sews wounds 4 times faster. Closing the wound surface with an area of 10 cm2 takes 2 seconds This was reported to socialbites.ca in MISIS.

The design allows cross-linking in the ultrasonic (aerosol) lesion, which is not found in similar devices, and the use of syringes with a volume of 20-25 ml (up to 10 ml from foreign manufacturers).

The new version has improved ergonomics for the tasks of medical personnel working in the various stages of medical evacuation of the wounded, primarily in the field. The device will significantly accelerate the delivery and quality of medical care, both in the evacuation stages of the wounded and in the treatment of extensive wounds, as part of specialized surgical care and rehabilitation. The pilot area for testing the developed innovative complex was the Federal State Budgetary Institution “GVKG im. NN Burdenko of the Russian Ministry of Defense”.

The weight of the device has also been changed – now the gun weighs 350 grams instead of 800, which allows you to work with it one-handed. The new version introduced will enable nurses and surgeons to facilitate the treatment of wounds before victims are sent to the next stage of medical care.

According to the doctors of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “GVKG im. NN Burdenko ”from the Ministry of Defense of Russia, the device performs the functions of a mobile dressing station, but without bandages and dressings.

The simultaneous application of various combinations of therapeutic ingredients and wound closure has been made possible by the introduction of a patented technology for the application of proprietary and commercially produced special gel compositions. Their composition varies and may include hemostatic, analgesic, antiseptic, antibacterial, antioxidant and wound-healing drugs. The choice of composition depends on the condition of the wound.

Previously at NUST MISIS created flight delay estimation app.
