Most Russians have rented an apartment at least once

The majority of Russians – 63% – have rented a house at least once in their lifetime, and 25% are currently renting a property. This was demonstrated in a survey by IC Rosgosstrakh, the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.

58% choose a one-bedroom apartment for rent; 24% – two or three bedroom apartments. 12% rent a townhouse or cottage and 6% rent a studio.

The most popular reason for Russians to rent housing is their unwillingness to stick to one place. 57% of the respondents chose this option.

Respondents had other reasons for choosing rental housing: business requires constant relocation – 13%; no money for your apartment – 10%; 9% rent their flat and rent it for themselves – 9%; I do not want to be involved in the mortgage – 9%.

Interestingly, 64% of Russians believe that taking a mortgage is more profitable than renting a house.

The Russians also talked about what are the most important factors for them when choosing a rental property: cost – 33%; good location of the apartment – 25%; minimum distance to/from work — 24%; good repair – 23%; transport infrastructure – 21%.

28% of Russians were able to find rental housing on private estates; 27% – with the help of acquaintances; 15% used the services of a real estate agent (15%); 16% – through ads on social networks (16%). The other 9% is rented from friends or relatives.

Half of those surveyed said it is very difficult to find a suitable flat to rent at the moment. Another third believe that finding a good apartment is not that difficult if you spend the time. And 17% are sure that there are many good offers on the market.

The former Russians warned 0.1% on the mortgage hazard.
