Academics MM Shemyakin and Yu.A. from the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry (IBCh). Ovchinnikov RAS and MIPT have developed an anesthetic based on the venom of the world’s most dangerous soldier spider (Phoneutria nigriventer). In this respect informs “Reedus”. The researchers found that the neurotoxin secreted by the insect contains peptides with healing properties.

It is stated that one of the peptides contained in the venom weakens the activity of neurons responsible for pain by strengthening the work of some ions in the cells. Scientists are confident that the resulting microparticles have great potential, but they are waiting to be discovered.

In addition to the soldier spider’s venom, researchers are experimenting with other arthropods to develop non-addictive analgesics that, unlike opioids, do not cause gastrointestinal bleeding or allergic reactions.

In 2023, the Russian initiative Umwelt together with scientists from Sechenov University developed a device similar to a medical mask that can provide an alternative to vision to the blind.

Ancient Russian scientists created “smart” water filter.
