During the modernization process, 44 modern scientific equipment was installed on the ship for geological studies that will allow sampling of water and soil from a depth of more than six thousand meters, assessing the state of the atmosphere and the surface of the ocean. and the water column. The collected data will help to study tectonic, magmatic and hydrothermal-metamorphic events.
“The history of research expeditions is the history of discoveries. It organically combines practice, theory and teamwork. The voyage time will be 45 ship days. The end point of the expedition will be the port of Murmansk.
The 55th expedition of the “Academic Nikolai Strakhov” research ship is carried out by the Geological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (GIN RAS) within the framework of scientific cooperation with the Institute of Oceanology.
