Scientists from Dagestan State University, together with the Institute of Physics of the Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Makhachkala and their Czech colleagues, have developed smart polymer membranes that purify water from pollution, activated by light or mechanical effects. In this respect informs With reference to the press service of the Russian Science Foundation RT.

“Our work opens the door to the development of low-cost and environmentally friendly smart hybrid polymer catalysts that can be used for wastewater treatment. “One of the advantages of our material is that it makes it possible to control the activity of the catalyst and the reaction rate,” said project manager Farid Orudzhev.

According to him, a special technology was used in the formation of the membrane, using molecules of the active ingredient – a hydrated salt of calcium nitrate. During the experiments, the membrane dissolved almost half of the organic substances contained in the water in the presence of ordinary visible light, and almost 90% of the impurities when exposed to ultraviolet radiation.

Prior to that, researchers from the North Caucasus Federal University (NCFU) developed technology for obtaining activated carbon from rice husk, buckwheat, sunflower seeds and lavender.

before in Russia created 100% silver extraction method from wastewater.
