The introduction of drug movement monitoring (MDLP) in Russia from September 1 will tighten the rules on the sale of prescription drugs, affect only the work of pharmacies and should not affect patients, aforementioned Head of the “Public News Service” of the Union of Patient Advocates, attorney Alexander Saversky.
But the expert did raise concerns about the position of some nonprofit pharmacy organizations (NPOs).
“A few of their associations stated that the problem exists. This means that they see the risks for themselves in the government decree. And it is clear that they will shift these risks to the patient. We hope that the explanations from the Ministry of Health will solve the problem. At the same time, the Ministry of Health cannot directly write that prescription drugs can be purchased without a prescription.
He explained that the department had reported on the preservation of the procedure for the sale of such drugs, and expressed hope that “it would be so”.
