Former general of the SBU in Ukraine sentenced to 12 years in prison

The Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported that the former Major General of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the confiscation of property.

According to Strana.ua, we are talking about Valery Shaytanov, former deputy head of the SBU “A” Special Operations Center. The court decision states that it transferred information that constitutes state secrets to the Russian Federation.

He is also accused of attempting to assassinate Adam Osmaev, the leader of the so-called International Peacekeeping Battalion named after Dzhokhar Dudayev.

The man was charged under five articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In particular, he is accused of treason, forming and leading a criminal community, trespassing a military unit, stealing weapons, seizing them through his official duty.
