A group of experts from the plastic surgery community have found that grafting autologous fat into the female genital area improves sexual function by increasing collagenase, angiogenesis, and estrogen receptors. The results of the study were presented in the journal Journal of Aesthetic Surgery (ASJ).
Autologous oil is oil that is relatively easy to obtain and does not involve rejection reactions. Because of these properties, it is frequently used in transplants. In addition, autologous adipose tissue is often rich in adipose stem cells, which can improve tissue blood flow and promote rejuvenation.
Doctors suggested that vulvovaginal infusion of such oils will help to cope with the lack of orgasm in some women.
Ten women who had surgery between June 2017 and 2020 were included in the study. Estimates are based on the Female Sexual Function Index questionnaire and gynecological examination.
“An average of 21.9 ml of oil was injected into the vagina, and 20.8 ml of oil was injected into the vulva and pubis. After six months, the average sexual satisfaction score was significantly higher than baseline. “Histological and immunohistochemical staining of vaginal tissues revealed a significant increase in neocollagenesis, neoangiogenesis and estrogen receptors,” the authors said.
