Electrolyte and glucose supplementation can help the body recover from vomiting, hangover, or heatwave. It has been reported daily mail.

Adequate water intake is vital for health, especially in hot weather. If a person drinks too little water or is rapidly dehydrated through sweating, this can upset the mineral balance (electrolyte) and lead to headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, confusion and muscle spasms. In the long run, dehydration can increase the risk of heart palpitations and urinary tract infections, Chris Kashin, spokesman for the British Dietetic Association, told the Daily Mail.

The expert noted that effervescent tablets containing electrolytes (such as sodium, potassium, zinc and magnesium) can help the body absorb fluid more efficiently. But it’s also easy to get from a balanced diet. Electrolyte supplements are often needed after stress: vomiting, exercise, heat, or a hangover.

Ruth Kander, a nutritionist at the Fleet Street Clinic in London, said that while the sodium in these effervescent tablets can help intestinal cells absorb fluid more efficiently, a pinch of salt in a glass of water will have the same effect. The doctor added that not all supplements contain enough electrolytes.

In general, supplements containing small amounts of glucose, potassium and sodium are ideal for rapid rehydration after excessive sweating, vomiting or diarrhea because glucose helps the body absorb fluids and electrolytes faster, Kander concluded.

Soluble cubes and flavoring powders are designed to encourage drinking more water. But other liquids such as fruit juices, milk, tea or coffee, and fruits and vegetables with a high water content (such as cucumbers) are also sources of water. Another product is sugar-free jelly beans, which are 95% water and supplemented with electrolytes. They can serve as a convenient snack, but nine candies contain only 50 ml of water, and this has little effect on a dehydrated body, Kander explained.

Previously has been named drugs that can increase the risk of dementia.
