Ecuadorian presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio dies This Wednesday, after a group of gunmen attacked an election rally ahead of the elections on August 20 in the country’s capital, Quito.
Villavicencio, a former trade unionist and Construye Movement candidate, was taken to the nearest hospital, where his death was confirmed, according to statements gathered by Interior Minister Juan Zapata’s newspaper ‘Primicias’.
Ecuadorian Police are currently investigating the facts and are checking the gate to “rule out the presence of explosives”.
