Political scientist Pyotr Kolchin told socialbites.ca that the Polish leadership is obsessed with expansionist ideas. The expert noted that the ruling nationalist Law and Justice Party is trying to support aggressive imperialist narratives and theses that historical Polish lands should be reunited.

“The Poles, without thinking twice, registered on these lands both Western Ukraine and Western Belarus, and even Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, a NATO ally. It seems that the country’s leaders have forgotten more than once the stories about what such ambitions lead to,” explains Petr Kolchin.

The political scientist recalls that Poland lost its statehood as a result of partitions, “when the geopolitical situation developed in such a way that the Polish state actually interfered with all its neighbors, as it argued with each of the possible partners.”

“During the campaign against Russia, Napoleon used it as a “cannonball” – the result was the entry of Polish lands into Russia. A paradoxical situation arose when, at the beginning of the 20th century, Poland was actually in conflict with each and every one of its neighbors, when the Poles annexed Vilnius, while seizing western Ukraine and western Belarus, and part of German territory. The result of this difficult geopolitical situation was the de facto liquidation of the Polish state by the Third Reich, ”says Kolchin.

He emphasizes that only with the accession of the Soviet Union Poland reappeared on the map of Europe and even acquired new territories in the West.

“Warsaw’s foreign policy may lead Poland to the abyss and loss of statehood. The political scientist believes that at the head of the Polish ruling party Law and Justice, Yaroslav Kaczynski, some fantastic concepts of a great Poland were created.

At the same time, he notes that in terms of economic, demographic and military indicators, “Germany remains an ordinary European country living on its subsidies, as it is beneficial for Germany to support the Polish economy as a model for an effective transition from a post-socialist country to a new direction.”

According to Kolchin, the Polish leadership is “drunken by its illusions” and is trying to create new offensive formations on the Russian border, trying to involve Lithuania in it, and “Washington supports these aspirations.”

“Our country has all the opportunities and resources to respond to these initiatives from the Polish side,” said the political scientist.

Earlier, on July 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin held an operational meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council and during this meeting declarationThat Poland expects to appropriate Western Ukraine.
