Researchers at the NUDZ Center for Sexual Health and Intervention found that unusual sexual preferences, including sexual aggression, occurred in 31% of men and 14% of women. It has been reported Prague Morning.
The study’s authors defined “paraphilia” as a tendency for people to engage in non-traditional sexual preferences that may include non-consensual sex or elements of violence.
The results of the study showed that a significant proportion of the men surveyed, about 31%, had unusual or non-traditional sexual preferences. 14% of women also showed similar preferences, albeit less on average.
The results of the research reflect the complexity and diversity of human sexuality. NUDZ data shows that a small percentage of the Czech population suffers from pedophilia, while others may exhibit pathological sexual aggression, sadism, and are also prone to exhibitionism. Although the causes of paraphilia are not fully understood, experts believe that some people may be innately predisposed to these preferences.
Many people with paraphilias do not commit crimes and try to manage their sexuality on their own. However, the survey showed that a significant number of people were dissatisfied with the current support system and were afraid to share their concerns, even with professionals.
To address this problem, in 2019 sexologists launched a website that provides anonymous online counseling to paraphilia patients.
