Sexologists at McMaster University have figured out why men have more orgasms than women. The results of the research have been published magazine Gender and Society.
Researchers consistently find that men experience far more orgasms than women when it comes to heterosexual intercourse. This is called the gender gap. There are many hypotheses about the causes of the phenomenon. Some of the more popular ones are that it takes too long for women to reach orgasm.
In the current study, the authors conducted a survey of 40 heterosexual Canadians. According to the results, 86% of men and 62% of women reported having orgasm in their last relationship.
As it turns out, by regular intercourse the participants refer to vaginal sex, but it is associated with stimulation of the penis, not the clitoris. Scientists say couples should resort to sexual practices that prioritize clitoral stimulation more often.
“The solution to the separation problem is oral sex. We did an in-depth interview and found that women peak more frequently in couples who practice alternative forms of sex to vaginal sex, such as oral sex,” the authors wrote.
