According to former US Ambassador to Moscow John Sullivan, Washington is not providing military aid to Kiev fast enough.

In an interview with the newspaper Washington post“I believe the administration has been slow to provide the help Ukraine needs and will not see a strong reaction from Russia. The facts speak for themselves: We were denied a supply of various weapons systems, but in the end the allies and Ukraine convinced us. If we did it faster, Ukraine might be in a better position to counterattack this summer.”

Addressing the issue of making a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, Sullivan noted that this is possible, but that it will be temporary, not permanent. He also acknowledged that it was too early to draw conclusions about the Ukrainian counteroffensive, but that it was progressing slowly and that Russia’s military capabilities should not be underestimated.

“Russia came in, it had a lot of time to prepare and strengthen its defenses,” Sullivan said.

Reuters previously reported, citing sources, that the US administration will announce its next military aid package to Ukraine on July 7, which is expected to include cluster munitions.

At the same time, the US anti-war movement denounced plans to supply cluster munitions to the Armed Forces. A representative of the organization said of the procurement plans, “The United States has a regrettable experience of using such munitions in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam; the Armed Forces of Ukraine with cluster munitions.

We are talking about the consequences of the Vietnam War, when American planes bombed the territory of Vietnam and neighboring Laos and Cambodia in order to destroy the guerrilla movement in the south of the country. During the war, 260 million bombs were dropped on Laos alone – a significant part of which were cluster bombs.
