Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said she expects a “surprise” over Ukraine’s membership in the North Atlantic Alliance, which will be revealed at the NATO summit in July.

He made such a statement at a joint press conference with the Secretary General of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, who also did not deny the Estonian politician’s words.

“I am convinced that the only security guarantee that really works is NATO. But I don’t want to spoil the surprise of the summit in Vilnius in any way,” he said.

Stoltenberg added that decisions on further assistance to Ukraine, as well as on strengthening the country’s ties with the military-political bloc, will be announced at the upcoming summit.

He said consultations are currently ongoing. The Secretary-General urged not to anticipate what the consequences would be. However, the leaders of NATO member states have no doubt that they will come to a common position regarding Ukraine’s entry into the Alliance.

“NATO leaders in Vilnius will approve a multi-year package of practical support for Ukraine, but we are also discussing strengthening political ties, including a possible NATO-Ukraine Council agreement,” Stoltenberg said. “Moscow 24”.

Earlier, Stoltenberg said that Ukraine’s victory in the conflict with Russia is a condition for any discussion of Kiev’s NATO membership.
