As part of the work program of the international forum “Ecology”, which took place in Moscow on 5-6 June, 38 sessions were held, in which more than 400 speakers spoke on key issues of Russia’s environmental development. This was reported by the press service of the forum.
It was noted that more than 1,500 people attended the event: these are representatives of 70 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and 42 foreign states. They discussed Russia’s environmental development mechanisms and trends in “green” diplomacy.
So, Nikolai Valuev, deputy of the State Duma and head of the public council of the ANO Center for Assistance to Environmental Initiatives (organizer of the event), said that the event has brought together representatives of the environmental community for 14 years. It is a permanent meeting place for experts from all regions of Russia and annually sets benchmarks for improving state policy in the field of environmental protection”.
In turn, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko noted that the national development goals of the country, outlined by the head of state, are inextricably linked with the environmental agenda.
“This is the creation of an effective system for working with production and consumption waste and protecting unique water bodies and reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere. “Despite the challenges our economy faces as a result of overcoming the sanctions and the consequences of the pandemic, the issues identified are a priority for the government’s work.”
According to Sergei Anoprienko, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology, ecology is the government’s main priority despite the sanctions.
“As for international environmental cooperation, all Russian initiatives are due to the tasks of the national project “Ecology”. It helps to find solutions to problems in various fields,” he said.
Denis Butsaev, Managing Director of PPK REO, noted that the plans to build a circular economy have not changed and the creation of MSW facilities in the country is at a faster pace.
“Despite all the difficulties of the reform, the creation of infrastructure systems in waste management, agriculture, industry and construction does not stop. The support from the state is not decreasing,” he said.
