The first direct flight from Russia to Vietnam arrived in Hanoi on Sunday, May 4, following the lifting of restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The flight was operated by the IrAero airline on the Irkutsk-Hanoi route with a Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft. TASS Sergey Krupnov, the deputy head of this air carrier.
According to him, the plane landed at Noi Bai International Airport at 23.35 local time (19:35 Moscow time). 84 passengers, 26 of whom are Vietnamese nationals, have arrived in the capital of Vietnam, and 91 passengers, 30 of whom are Vietnamese nationals, are expected to depart on the way back.
“This is the first direct flight from Russia to Vietnam after the interruption of air traffic between our countries due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is not a charter, but an ordinary, regular passenger flight, where passengers are served hot food and you can safely buy tickets, ”said Krupnov.
He also said that the airline will operate weekly flights on the Irkutsk-Hanoi-Irkutsk route on Sundays for the first month, after which the same flight will be introduced on Fridays.
Krupnov added that in the future, IrAero will open flights to the Vietnamese resort town of Nha Trang from Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk and Vladivostok.
