Neuroendocrinologist Yuri Poteshkin, head of the Scientific Council of Atlas clinics, said that modern doctors often make fashionable diagnoses that do not exist. Agency reports “Hitting the Primer”.

According to him, the diagnosis of adrenal fatigue syndrome first appeared on the website of chiropractor and naturopath James Wilson in 1998. It was defined as stress-related decreased adrenal function. Later, this diagnosis spread widely on the Internet.

The doctor emphasized that fatigue and weakness are among the symptoms of misdiagnosis, but there is no clear diagnostic criterion.

According to Poteshkin, such a diagnosis can be not only misleading, but also harmful. It is necessary to find out the true cause of weakness, otherwise other diseases may appear – anemia, hypothyroidism, oncological diseases.

The neuroendocrinologist calls circulatory encephalopathy another misdiagnosis without clear diagnostic criteria.

Grand Clinic Svetlana Mishina, former gynecologist-endocrinologist of the network of immunorehabilitation and preventive medicine clinics saidIt is categorically not recommended to self-diagnose “cystitis” with the appearance of severe pain and cramps during urination, as well as discomfort in the lower abdomen, and to resort to self-medication on advice from the Internet.
