The publication states that the increase in prices is due to the rising cost of imported materials required for book printing, the increase in the prices of equipment and spare parts from Europe, and the increase in the cost of domestic paper.
“A combination of factors such as paper shortages and changes in the exchange rate has resulted in a 30% increase in the cost of producing books last year. Market representatives held back retail prices, but still their growth was about 15-20%, ”said Oleg Novikov, head of Eksmo-AST group publishing house.
The publication underlines that there will be an increase in book prices in 2023. RCC assumes this will be 10-15% and the cost has already increased by 5% in the first four months.
