Music is also part of Kings League. This facet we found Mark Eme, who recently released ‘Jijantes’, the anthem of the team of the same name led by journalist Gerard Romero in that competition. The song has now gone viral on social networks and has over a million views on Spotify. YOTELE talks to Mark Eme about ‘Jijantes’, among other things.

You created the anthem of the Jijantes team. How did this opportunity come about?

I have known Gerard Romero for 9-10 years. I had a band in Barcelona and we met in a charity play called ‘La marató’, where Marc Márquez and a few Catalan characters were also there. He was taking pictures, he was a journalist, he was playing Barça matches on the Barcelona radio and we connected there. Then we were always in touch and when Kings League started I was in charge because I liked the project and all. I offered it to him because they did not have a divine, come on, nobody did and he loved music, I said he was interested. We finished in a week. I sent him the song and we did the first thing he heard.

The song is getting very good response on the platforms. Did you expect this reaction?

The truth is, I expected it to go well because I knew the whole Kings League and Gerard’s potential, but I never expected this much. I knew it would have an effect, but it didn’t last that long. I mean, I knew I was going to have a great first week since it was the first anthem, but it didn’t last long and it goes beyond that, so when the weekend approaches and people start partying, the messages start coming. , namely videos on Instagram, videos and videos and videos of people dancing and singing in discos.

It’s crazy that the audio on TikTok has gone viral for two weeks, so I don’t think anyone expected it, especially me.

Do you see Gerard Romero singing at the top of his lungs in case your team does something important in this edition?

Dude, we’re waiting because I know you want to sing it at Camp Nou. So he saw the whole Camp Nou singing and he was so excited. In fact, it got him a little emotional and it was because: “Oh, it should have been then!” I know they will try their best to score in this second half and I don’t know exactly where the finals will be but I’m sure they will either be at the Camp Nou or at the Bernabéu or at Wanda. I know Gerard has to go there to play sports, but at the same time, for the moment, everyone is singing along to his team’s song.

How do you go viral on the networks with all these memes popping up with your song?

This is a really cool viral. Since the whole moment was positive, I watched TikTok for the first few weeks but now it’s beyond my ability to watch everything that comes out, but it’s so cool. Everything surrounding Kings League is very healthy, a healthy community, I always get good messages.

All the people I met on the street, who knew me from the anthem, are always nice words. I also think everyone likes Jijantes because they did badly in the first split, I think they took the song very well, so everything, all the virality and all the messages are so positive and really cool.

How do you see this new season of the competition? Are you a fan of Jijantes or is there another team that is a bit more? guilty pleasure?

I’m there, I fully support Jijantes, I’m so excited for them to do something because I also personally know Auri Pons, one of the devs’ signatures and a few new members of Jijantes, many of whom I know are eager to show a lot of things. I believe they will do very well and compete and I hope we can see them in the playoffs.

Móstoles is a team that I also sympathize with, as I play FIFA and have seen DJ Mario for many years.

After this release, what is your next professional goal?

My goal is to reach people with the following songs I’ve released. Thank God for many years I have devoted myself to writing songs for other artists, the songs have reached everyone’s homes all over Spain, and now I am putting my face to the songs that I have released with Quevedo, with artists like Lola Índigo. With Omar Montes, Duki, Morad… now with my face, my record label, and telling my stories, like playing my music, it’s been a kind of springboard for the Kings League that helped me reach all the houses. and consume and like my music.
