Blade Runner 2049 star Edward James Olmos has spoken for the first time about his battle with throat cancer, Variety reports.

The actor, best known for his roles in science fiction movies, including Battlestar Galactica, gave a lengthy interview that declassified his cancer.

According to the 76-year-old artist, he lost about 22 kilograms due to throat cancer and almost died.

“There were days when my body gave up. I couldn’t eat anymore and had trouble walking. You could say I came very close to death,” Olmos admitted.

The actress also revealed that doctors initially predicted that she might lose her voice. However, Olmos recovered and even started swimming after receiving chemotherapy in December 2022.

“I am so grateful to my family and friends who have stood by me and helped me in my fight against cancer,” he summed up.
