His main argument was his children. He has four children, three of them minors, and have “lived in a precarious situation” since he was imprisoned. He also argued that he would not flee and that he was “cooperating with justice”. Jesus Pradales, -in makeshift prison– accused of murdering whoever his partner is, Juana Canal dismembered and hid her body for 19 years in the house they shared in Madrid’s Ciudad Lineal district. He will remain in prison until the trial is over.

Did not cooperate with justice
Jesús Pradales stated that he has cooperated with investigators since his arrest. He also said that he killed Juani but “he didn’t want to do that”. That frightened him to pieces and kept him for almost twenty years. He thinks the arrest violates his rights. He wants to await trial on the street, at his fair with his family.
As CASO ABIERTO stated, in the summary he submitted for his request for release, the killer stated: stopped work because he was in prison: a hamburger and fries caravan (Burguer Jesús) and a verbena ‘gadget’ (‘Inflatable Wipeout Palo Loco’). His wife can’t take care of them, and they don’t just generate income, it also costs him money to take care of them.. He talks about his family to claim that he will not run away. He talks about roots from his parents, who are already old.
He argued that he was “cooperating with justice”. He did so late and halfway through when two hikers were arrested after finding the remains of the Juana Canal near a family farm: two statements at the police station, he reassured. accidentally killed Juana and someone in front of the judge: in the same direction. “I loved Juani,” she said, accidentally killing him: “I stretched out my arm (…) I was motionless, my eyes were open and my eyes were very large. At that moment, I had things to do in the car. I was not afraid that he would not react. When I go upstairs to get more, I see him lying there on the floor…” He wasn’t breathing.
Judges of the District Court of Madrid reject their claim: “From the death of the victim, until he is found” (19 years), Pradales “.has not taken any action for any purpose other than his own concealmenttrying to prevent their involvement in reality from being discovered.
They emphasize that when he is arrested and the investigation is complete, then it is. Pradales himself admitted to attending eventsdescribed as murder crimepunishable by imprisonment of up to 12 years. Given the seriousness, the risk of escape is inherent.

“I couldn’t be with him”
A “like any other” argument. Two days after Jesús Pradales was arrested near his home in Fuente el Saz de Jarama (Madrid), he began by saying that this had happened before. He admitted to pushing Juana “once” before, but nothing happened to her. Instead, it “crashed” on the night of February 23.
“You made two statements at the police station,” the judge reminded, “and do you approve and approve of these two statements?” “Yes,” replied Pradales, “especially the second, which corrects the first.” In the first, he took everything, changed his lawyers, and retracted his word: he said that he killed her by accident, that he did not want to kill her. He was scared. He put it in the tub, cut it in half, and put his remains in two suitcases.
He did as he told, because wanted to “get rid of” the body. “I couldn’t handle it” (Juani was 1.70 meters tall and wouldn’t weigh more than 60 kilograms, as Pradales himself admitted in court), “i tried to take it Wrapping his arm around my neck to carry him as if drunk, but it was impossible, I was heavy, my legs were dragging… I couldn’t do it”.

A letter. piece of paper. Pradales did not leave any further. He disappeared from everyone’s life. He started a new life, a family – in June of the same year he began to live with the current mother of his children – got out of the taxi, became a fair, and fell silent.
Juana was 38 years old and had two children from her previous marriage. After a rough period, he had found a job and had just settled in Madrid’s Ciudad Lineal district. She met Jesús Pradales and began a relationship that lasted a year. He was killed in the early hours of February 23. His remains were found three months after OPEN CASE published a report that helped reactivate the search and the case. The location of his bones, which were found by some hikers in 2019, was not reported to his family until 28 June 2022. For 19 years his children, brothers, nephews lived looking for him.
